Last week reminded us what college football really is: chaos in shoulder pads. Favorites collapsing, quarterbacks making dumb mistakes, spreads that looked free suddenly turning into landmines. Last-minute touchdowns blowing up our “best bets”. And yet — we love it. We need it. We lay the entire week’s paycheck on the line.
Here’s the Saturday slate for every Top 25 matchup — my takes, my plays, and my reckless confidence. Tail at your own risk!!
Oregon (4) @ Northwestern
Pick: Oregon -27.5
Dante Moore is a machine. This Oregon team has no cracks — offense, defense, special teams, all humming. Northwestern doesn’t have the athletes to keep this within three scores. This is a “grab a beer by halftime and watch your ticket cash” type game.
Clemson (12) @ Georgia Tech
Pick: Georgia Tech +3.5
It is all up to Haynes King; he is the best QB in this game. From all reports, he is playing. King > Klubnik in a spot like this, and Bobby Dodd Stadium will be buzzing. Clemson hasn’t shown me enough to lay points on the road. Jackets are barking.
Oklahoma (13) @ Temple
Leaning: Temple +21.5
Something feels weird here. My brain says “Sooners roll,” but my gut whispers Temple. When that happens, I usually listen to my gut — but I’ll probably regret it.
Wisconsin @ Alabama (19)
Pick: Wisconsin +21
Bama’s still Bama, but three touchdowns against a Big Ten team (even if it is Wisco)? That’s too much respect. Wisconsin may not win, but they can ugly this thing up enough to hang around.
Central Michigan @ Michigan (23)
Pick: Over 42.5
Michigan needs to wake up. Underwood has to get back into rhythm, and this feels like a “score 49 by themselves” kind of game. Even if they run the ball a lot. Over is the only play.
South Alabama @ Auburn (24)
Pick: South Alabama +24.5
Auburn doesn’t bury teams. They did smack Ball State, sure, but this South Alabama team has some fight. They nearly clipped Tulane. They’ll hang around long enough to cover. Not sure Auburn will be excited for another blow out game.
Louisiana @ Missouri (25)
Pick: Over 47.5
This game stinks. I hate it. But points feel inevitable. Close your eyes, smash the over, and pray. Do not even bother turning this one on, but I’ll definitely be betting it.
Villanova @ Penn State (2)
Pick: Penn State -48.5
There probably isn’t even a real line here, but if there is, lay it. Penn State can do whatever they want.
Georgia (6) @ Tennessee (15)
Pick: Tennessee +3.5
This is the game. Tennessee at home with Neyland rocking? Georgia’s good, but not invincible. Vols keep it close — and maybe steal it. I will be absolutely blasting Rocky Top starting tonight at my local bar.
Oregon State (21) @ Texas Tech
Lean: Texas Tech
Oregon State looked miserable last week. Until I see life, I can’t back them.
Iowa State (14) @ Arkansas State
Pick: Under 55.5
This game will be unwatchable. Under, turn it off, move on.
UTEP @ Texas (7)
Pass
What’s fun about this? Nothing. No, I am not going to pass because I’m not an actual loser. I am making this game interesting: Texas to score 50+ points
South Florida (18) @ Miami (5)
Pick: USF +17.5
America’s Team. How do you not love USF right now? Momentum, hype, and a fan base believing. Hurricanes win, but Bulls cover. I will also, maybe, definitely, 100% be taking them money line. The hope is building inside of me.
Ohio @ Ohio State (1)
Pick: Ohio +29.5
Ohio State is terrifying — but betting Ohio has been electric the last few weeks. The line’s dropping, and I’m riding the Bobcats again.
Western Michigan @ Illinois (9)
Pick: Western Michigan +27.5
Don’t even think or research it, just bet it.
Arkansas @ Ole Miss (17)
Pick: Arkansas +7.5
This Ole Miss team is smoke and mirrors. Arkansas ugly football > Ole Miss fake fireworks.
Florida @ LSU (3)
Pick: LSU -7
Saturday night in Death Valley? Against a Florida team unraveling? Don’t overthink it. LSU will smack them.
Texas A&M (16) @ Notre Dame (8)
Pick: Notre Dame -6.5
Not in love with it, but I trust the Irish. They’ve had time to reset, they’re the better team, and A&M always folds in this spot. The Irish need this; this is their season on the line here already in week 2.
Vanderbilt @ South Carolina (11)
Pick: South Carolina -3.5
LaNorris Sellers is real. At home, under four points? Gamecocks are the side.
Utah (20) @ Wyoming
Leaning: Utah -23.5
I’m high on Utah. 23.5 is a lot, though. Not sure I can pull the trigger yet (I am 1000% hammering the shit out of this).
Final Word
This Saturday is loaded. Upsets are brewing, double-digit spreads are daring us, and heartbreak is guaranteed. But that’s why we love college football — the pain makes the wins sweeter.
Now let’s go cash some tickets.
